Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Financial Services and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.64%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were WPP PLC (LON:WPP), which rose 6.10% or 47.20 points to trade at 820.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Smurfit WestRock PLC (LON:SWR) added 4.60% or 157.00 points to end at 3,574.00 and Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT) was up 3.99% or 190.00 points to 4,953.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were 3I Group PLC (LON:III), which fell 2.45% or 83.00 points to trade at 3,300.00 at the close. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) declined 2.35% or 56.00 points to end at 2,323.50 and Smiths Group PLC (LON:SMIN) was down 2.23% or 36.00 points to 1,577.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1013 to 784 and 663 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.97% or 26.65 to $2,733.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.69% or 1.21 to hit $70.53 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.64% or 1.25 to trade at $74.79 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.37% to 1.29, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.17% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 104.32.
