Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Insurance, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Mobile Telecommunications sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.62% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 2.05% or 300.00 points to trade at 14,950.00 at the close. Meanwhile, 3I Group PLC (LON:III) added 1.98% or 59.00 points to end at 3,045.00 and Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA) was up 1.54% or 60.00 points to 3,959.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Beazley PLC (LON:BEZG), which fell 5.24% or 36.00 points to trade at 650.50 at the close. BT Group PLC (LON:BT) declined 2.94% or 4.15 points to end at 137.15 and J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) was down 2.87% or 7.40 points to 250.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1052 to 710 and 717 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.32% or 7.50 to $2,331.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.29% or 0.24 to hit $83.14 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.06% or 0.05 to trade at $86.55 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.17% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.21% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 105.53.
