Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Banking and Aerospace & Defense sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.53%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Phoenix Group Holdings PLC (LON:PHNX), which rose 4.16% or 20.60 points to trade at 516.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) added 2.31% or 340.00 points to end at 15,065.00 and United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) was up 1.62% or 16.10 points to 1,009.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which fell 4.10% or 88.00 points to trade at 2,058.00 at the close. ConvaTec Group PLC (LON:CTEC) declined 2.55% or 6.20 points to end at 237.20 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) was down 2.53% or 12.30 points to 473.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 935 to 718 and 824 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.21% or 28.55 to $2,340.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.27% or 0.22 to hit $81.07 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.19% or 0.16 to trade at $85.55 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.13% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 105.45.
