Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Tobacco and Oil & Gas Producers sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.46%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB), which rose 4.29% or 278.00 points to trade at 6766.00 at the close. Meanwhile, J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) added 3.91% or 8.70 points to end at 231.20 and London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSE) was up 3.43% or 172.00 points to 5186.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO), which fell 5.07% or 98.20 points to trade at 1839.60 at the close. Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP) declined 3.16% or 2.98 points to end at 91.30 and Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) was down 2.45% or 3.55 points to 141.55.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 774 to 690 and 334 ended unchanged.
Shares in Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP) fell to all time lows; falling 3.16% or 2.98 to 91.30. Shares in London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSE) rose to all time highs; rising 3.43% or 172.00 to 5186.00.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.20% or 2.55 to $1283.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.10% or 0.70 to hit $63.21 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.51% or 0.37 to trade at $71.69 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.41% to 1.3085, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8596.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 97.018.
