Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Industrial Engineering and Industrial Transportation sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.38%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 1.97% or 16.40 points to trade at 850.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) added 1.62% or 68.50 points to end at 4299.50 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) was up 0.80% or 17.00 points to 2155.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU), which fell 3.03% or 26.20 points to trade at 837.40 at the close. Pearson PLC (LON:PSON) declined 2.76% or 23.40 points to end at 825.80 and BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES) was down 2.72% or 12.80 points to 457.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1522 to 584 and 291 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.72% or 9.45 to $1328.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $59.02 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.21% or 0.14 to trade at $66.89 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.29% to 1.3171, while EUR/GBP rose 0.25% to 0.8590.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 96.050.
