Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Electrical, Tobacco and Healthcare Equipment & Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.38%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Old Mutual Ltd (LON:OMU), which rose 2.44% or 3.58 points to trade at 150.42 at the close. Meanwhile, Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 1.74% or 13.20 points to end at 772.00 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was up 1.66% or 24.60 points to 1510.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB), which fell 2.51% or 67.50 points to trade at 2624.00 at the close. SSE PLC (LON:SSE) declined 2.35% or 27.00 points to end at 1120.00 and WPP PLC (LON:WPP) was down 2.30% or 26.50 points to 1125.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1057 to 910 and 331 ended unchanged.
Shares in SSE PLC (LON:SSE) fell to 5-year lows; losing 2.35% or 27.00 to 1120.00.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.30% or 3.60 to $1207.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.39% or 1.68 to hit $68.69 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.73% or 1.38 to trade at $78.36 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.48% to 1.3105, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.8908.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 94.63.
