Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Industrial Transportation and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.35%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 1.78% or 8.40 points to trade at 480.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) added 1.64% or 36.00 points to end at 2,229.00 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) was up 1.48% or 1.12 points to 76.78 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Airtel Africa Plc (LON:AAF), which fell 5.17% or 6.00 points to trade at 110.00 at the close. Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) declined 4.56% or 23.70 points to end at 496.30 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) was down 4.53% or 29.60 points to 623.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1157 to 656 and 657 ended unchanged.
Shares in Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) rose to 5-year highs; rising 1.64% or 36.00 to 2,229.00. Shares in Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) fell to 5-year lows; falling 4.53% or 29.60 to 623.20.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.12% or 3.10 to $2,526.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.84% or 0.59 to hit $69.75 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.75% or 0.55 to trade at $73.20 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.21% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.43% at 101.33.
