Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Industrial Metals & Mining and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.35%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 2.89% or 19.20 points to trade at 684.40 at the close. Meanwhile, SSE PLC (LON:SSE) added 2.60% or 28.50 points to end at 1124.00 and Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:BKGH) was up 2.56% or 99.00 points to 3969.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which fell 6.05% or 139.00 points to trade at 2157.00 at the close. Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:MKS) declined 2.63% or 5.05 points to end at 186.70 and Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) was down 1.92% or 10.00 points to 511.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1243 to 829 and 209 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.86% or 28.05 to $1536.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.32% or 1.84 to hit $53.51 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.07% or 1.24 to trade at $58.68 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.20% to 1.2275, while EUR/GBP rose 0.39% to 0.9075.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.47% at 97.602.
