Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Mining, Chemicals and Construction & Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.34%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were GlaxoSmithKline PLC (LON:GSK), which rose 1.77% or 23.0 points to trade at 1320.5 at the close. Meanwhile, GKN PLC (LON:GKN) added 1.63% or 5.00 points to end at 311.10 and Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK) was up 1.55% or 80.00 points to 5230.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Provident Financial (LON:PFG), which fell 4.28% or 38.00 points to trade at 850.00 at the close. Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO) declined 3.69% or 98.00 points to end at 2557.00 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was down 3.42% or 33.50 points to 945.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1210 to 820 and 146 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.64% or 8.19 to $1295.49 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.65% or 0.97 to hit $57.98 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.05% or 0.03 to trade at $63.50 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.01% to 1.3334, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.8936.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 92.72.
