Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Forestry & Paper and Tobacco sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.32%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were WPP PLC (LON:WPP), which rose 3.12% or 36.00 points to trade at 1191.00 at the close. Meanwhile, DCC plc (LON:DCC) added 2.14% or 150.0 points to end at 7170.0 and Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) was up 1.62% or 39.00 points to 2448.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW), which fell 3.95% or 7.00 points to trade at 170.20 at the close. Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) declined 2.99% or 15.80 points to end at 512.80 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was down 2.98% or 33.50 points to 1089.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1184 to 734 and 366 ended unchanged.
Shares in Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) fell to 52-week lows; losing 3.95% or 7.00 to 170.20. Shares in Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.98% or 33.50 to 1089.50.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.53% or 6.50 to $1224.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.79% or 0.54 to hit $67.72 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.55% or 0.40 to trade at $72.67 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.21% to 1.3103, while EUR/GBP rose 0.04% to 0.8930.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 94.35.
