Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Automobiles & Parts and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV), which rose 5.17% or 30.20 points to trade at 614.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RB) added 2.52% or 162.00 points to end at 6590.00 and DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) was up 1.98% or 6.90 points to 355.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which fell 6.17% or 75.00 points to trade at 1140.00 at the close. Just Eat (LON:JE) declined 2.25% or 14.40 points to end at 626.80 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) was down 1.91% or 5.15 points to 265.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1117 to 994 and 226 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.18% or 2.55 to $1409.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $60.39 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.43% or 0.29 to trade at $66.72 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.14% to 1.2517, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8991.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.00% at 96.700.
