Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Electrical, Food Producers and Tobacco sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which rose 4.32% or 79.50 points to trade at 1919.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB) added 3.45% or 133.00 points to end at 3988.00 and Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH) was up 2.20% or 52.0 points to 2412.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Merlin Entertainments PLC (LON:MERL), which fell 3.93% or 14.20 points to trade at 347.00 at the close. Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) declined 3.57% or 102.00 points to end at 2755.00 and SSE PLC (LON:SSE) was down 3.13% or 42.00 points to 1300.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1102 to 901 and 132 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.61% or 8.20 to $1331.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.17% or 0.11 to hit $64.08 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $69.36 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.51% to 1.3901, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8811.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.45% at 90.24.
