Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrial Transportation, Support Services and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.26%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM), which rose 2.18% or 9.40 points to trade at 441.40 at the close. Meanwhile, United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) added 2.10% or 14.80 points to end at 719.60 and Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) was up 1.85% or 100.00 points to 5518.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG), which fell 8.38% or 32.80 points to trade at 358.60 at the close. Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG) declined 6.83% or 446.00 points to end at 6083.00 and Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) was down 4.06% or 6.80 points to 160.80.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1336 to 704 and 308 ended unchanged.
Shares in Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG) fell to all time lows; falling 8.38% or 32.80 to 358.60.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.38% or 16.50 to $1208.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.15% or 0.11 to hit $75.19 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.07% or 0.06 to trade at $84.92 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.41% to 1.2988, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.8901.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 95.03.
