Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Industrial Metals & Mining and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK), which rose 2.24% or 33.00 points to trade at 1505.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) added 1.77% or 130.00 points to end at 7490.00 and Provident Financial (LON:PFG) was up 1.65% or 14.50 points to 891.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Unilever PLC (LON:ULVR), which fell 5.49% or 249.50 points to trade at 4299.00 at the close. Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP) declined 5.37% or 12.60 points to end at 221.90 and WPP PLC (LON:WPP) was down 2.98% or 42.00 points to 1366.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1298 to 638 and 447 ended unchanged.
Shares in Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP) fell to 5-year lows; down 5.37% or 12.60 to 221.90.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.55% or 7.09 to $1290.09 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.31% or 0.68 to hit $51.36 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.63% or 0.95 to trade at $57.20 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.25% to 1.3172, while EUR/GBP rose 0.69% to 0.8988.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 93.05.
