Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Gas, Water & Multiutilities, Household Goods & Home Construction and Mobile Telecommunications sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT), which rose 3.42% or 116.00 points to trade at 3513.00 at the close. Meanwhile, CRH PLC (LON:CRH) added 3.17% or 85.00 points to end at 2765.00 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) was up 2.66% or 35.00 points to 1352.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were National Grid PLC (LON:NG), which fell 4.71% or 41.20 points to trade at 833.30 at the close. Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:MKS) declined 4.54% or 13.50 points to end at 284.00 and Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) was down 2.68% or 16.80 points to 611.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1024 to 985 and 320 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.08% or 1.00 to $1300.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.64% or 1.12 to hit $67.09 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.57% or 0.44 to trade at $78.16 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.04% to 1.3292, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8774.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 94.09.
