Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Tobacco, Automobiles & Parts and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which rose 6.54% or 141.00 points to trade at 2298.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Standard Life Aberdeen PLC (LON:SLA) added 4.16% or 10.00 points to end at 250.70 and British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) was up 4.11% or 20.40 points to 517.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS), which fell 4.36% or 129.00 points to trade at 2832.00 at the close. Just Eat (LON:JE) declined 2.10% or 16.20 points to end at 756.00 and Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG) was down 1.67% or 100.00 points to 5884.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1077 to 1065 and 190 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.04% or 15.95 to $1553.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.78% or 0.42 to hit $54.06 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.14% or 0.08 to trade at $58.20 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.63% to 1.2292, while EUR/GBP fell 0.65% to 0.9024.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 97.907.
