Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Household Goods & Home Construction and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which rose 3.57% or 27.80 points to trade at 806.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Babcock International Group PLC (LON:BAB) added 2.19% or 12.60 points to end at 587.20 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) was up 2.12% or 37.00 points to 1785.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which fell 4.88% or 59.50 points to trade at 1159.50 at the close. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) declined 4.68% or 99.00 points to end at 2014.00 and Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) was down 4.20% or 6.20 points to 141.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1045 to 1003 and 317 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.87% or 10.60 to $1230.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.47% or 0.24 to hit $51.80 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.28% or 0.17 to trade at $60.57 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.52% to 1.2812, while EUR/GBP rose 0.06% to 0.8867.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.51% at 96.787.
