Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Mining and Electrical sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Beazley PLC (LON:BEZG), which rose 3.56% or 23.50 points to trade at 684.50 at the close. Meanwhile, B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) added 2.93% or 13.00 points to end at 456.50 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) was up 1.97% or 3.40 points to 176.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Smurfit Kappa Group PLC (LON:SWR), which fell 2.24% or 82.00 points to trade at 3,574.00 at the close. Schroders PLC (LON:SDR) declined 1.99% or 7.60 points to end at 374.00 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) was down 1.97% or 2.80 points to 139.10.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 938 to 867 and 696 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.47% or 35.20 to $2,362.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.97% or 0.81 to hit $82.35 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.87% or 0.75 to trade at $85.79 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.07% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 104.62.
