Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.14%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which rose 3.73% or 42.00 points to trade at 1169.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) added 1.70% or 3.00 points to end at 179.90 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) was up 1.47% or 4.15 points to 286.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM), which fell 5.14% or 35.00 points to trade at 645.50 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 3.35% or 31.50 points to end at 908.00 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was down 3.34% or 44.50 points to 1288.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1052 to 923 and 435 ended unchanged.
Shares in Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.14% or 35.00 to 645.50.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.04% or 13.49 to $1310.99 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.03% or 1.03 to hit $51.69 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.38% or 1.34 to trade at $57.76 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.43% to 1.3452, while EUR/GBP fell 0.51% to 0.8803.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.57% at 92.47.
