Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Mining, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.14%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO), which rose 3.51% or 14.00 points to trade at 412.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Beazley PLC (LON:BEZG) added 2.94% or 24.00 points to end at 839.50 and Diageo PLC (LON:DGE) was up 2.35% or 60.00 points to 2,618.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:SPX), which fell 2.51% or 185.00 points to trade at 7,195.00 at the close. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) declined 2.46% or 62.00 points to end at 2,460.50 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was down 2.06% or 14.00 points to 665.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1009 to 777 and 650 ended unchanged.
Shares in Beazley PLC (LON:BEZG) rose to all time highs; rising 2.94% or 24.00 to 839.50.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.09% or 29.64 to $2,679.76 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.60% or 1.12 to hit $71.14 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.33% or 0.98 to trade at $74.39 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.36% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP rose 0.65% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 106.70.
