Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Healthcare Equipment & Services, Automobiles & Parts and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Provident Financial (LON:PFG), which rose 4.28% or 38.00 points to trade at 925.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Standard Life PLC (LON:SLA) added 2.08% or 9.10 points to end at 446.30 and Shire PLC (LON:SHP) was up 1.88% or 72.50 points to 3920.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which fell 4.46% or 25.50 points to trade at 546.00 at the close. GKN PLC (LON:GKN) declined 3.43% or 10.90 points to end at 307.10 and Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL) was down 2.89% or 66.00 points to 2218.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1011 to 975 and 428 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.09% or 1.18 to $1305.78 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.86% or 0.44 to hit $51.89 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.07% or 0.61 to trade at $57.78 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.04% to 1.3283, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8891.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 92.98.
