Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 3.38% or 29.20 points to trade at 894.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY) added 2.44% or 1.33 points to end at 55.83 and 3I Group PLC (LON:III) was up 1.78% or 14.20 points to 809.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT), which fell 4.26% or 80.00 points to trade at 1798.00 at the close. Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT) declined 4.10% or 123.00 points to end at 2877.00 and Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) was down 3.01% or 10.30 points to 331.80.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1231 to 859 and 300 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.26% or 80.00 to 1798.00. Shares in Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) fell to all time lows; losing 3.01% or 10.30 to 331.80.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.11% or 1.40 to $1222.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.23% or 0.13 to hit $56.59 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.69% or 0.46 to trade at $66.30 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.10% to 1.2848, while EUR/GBP rose 0.08% to 0.8908.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 96.11.
