Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Construction & Materials, Electrical and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Provident Financial (LON:PFG), which rose 22.46% or 168.00 points to trade at 916.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) added 4.12% or 51.00 points to end at 1288.00 and Shire PLC (LON:SHP) was up 1.49% or 55.00 points to 3750.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were CRH PLC (LON:CRH), which fell 2.61% or 73.00 points to trade at 2720.00 at the close. Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB) declined 2.02% or 140.00 points to end at 6805.00 and Worldpay Group PLC (LON:WPG) was down 1.99% or 8.50 points to 419.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 66 to 42 and 9 ended unchanged.
Shares in Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.02% or 140.00 to 6805.00.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.07% or 13.83 to $1311.73 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.32% or 1.59 to hit $46.28 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.25% or 0.65 to trade at $51.33 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.41% to 1.2932, while EUR/GBP rose 0.03% to 0.9260.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 92.19.
