Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Tobacco and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN), which rose 3.99% or 22.20 points to trade at 579.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) added 3.73% or 58.50 points to end at 1625.50 and Provident Financial PLC (LON:PFG) was up 3.79% or 20.21 points to 553.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which fell 3.10% or 4.07 points to trade at 127.10 at the close. Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) declined 2.68% or 72.00 points to end at 2617.50 and British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS) was down 2.37% or 81.00 points to 3336.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1460 to 779 and 101 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.29% or 3.60 to $1232.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.68% or 0.43 to hit $63.26 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.15% or 0.11 to trade at $72.78 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.43% to 1.2957, while EUR/GBP rose 0.14% to 0.8781.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 96.38.
