Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Food Producers, Chemicals and Food & Drug Retailers sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Provident Financial (LON:PFG), which rose 3.77% or 30.00 points to trade at 825.00 at the close. Meanwhile, EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 3.37% or 39.00 points to end at 1195.00 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) was up 2.88% or 145.00 points to 5180.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF), which fell 4.96% or 162.00 points to trade at 3103.00 at the close. Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) declined 2.26% or 3.80 points to end at 164.60 and Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) was down 1.54% or 125.00 points to 8000.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1259 to 668 and 463 ended unchanged.
Shares in Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) fell to 3-years lows; down 2.26% or 3.80 to 164.60.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.08% or 14.54 to $1336.66 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.28% or 0.61 to hit $48.09 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.20% or 0.11 to trade at $53.67 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.19% to 1.3171, while EUR/GBP fell 0.46% to 0.9079.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.61% at 91.87.
