Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Aerospace & Defense sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 3.48% or 22.00 points to trade at 654.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Beazley PLC (LON:BEZG) added 3.45% or 26.00 points to end at 780.00 and GSK plc (LON:GSK) was up 3.22% or 47.00 points to 1,505.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW), which fell 4.94% or 7.90 points to trade at 151.95 at the close. Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV) declined 4.61% or 43.50 points to end at 901.00 and BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES) was down 3.95% or 51.50 points to 1,251.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 958 to 785 and 717 ended unchanged.
Shares in Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.48% or 22.00 to 654.00.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.65% or 17.10 to $2,643.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 3.09% or 2.26 to hit $75.50 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 3.11% or 2.38 to trade at $78.96 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.12% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 102.73.
