Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrial Engineering, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Industrial Transportation sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Beazley PLC (LON:BEZG), which rose 10.75% or 68.50 points to trade at 705.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) added 8.26% or 152.00 points to end at 1,992.00 and Entain PLC (LON:ENT) was up 5.08% or 26.60 points to 550.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:SPX), which fell 7.44% or 635.00 points to trade at 7,900.00 at the close. United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) declined 4.37% or 44.20 points to end at 967.80 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) was down 4.01% or 5.45 points to 130.45.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1038 to 732 and 706 ended unchanged.
Shares in Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:SPX) fell to 3-years lows; falling 7.44% or 635.00 to 7,900.00.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.12% or 27.30 to $2,459.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.98% or 0.74 to hit $75.97 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.63% or 0.49 to trade at $78.82 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.37% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.48% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 103.07.
