Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Tobacco, Oil & Gas Producers and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.07%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD), which rose 7.79% or 11.24 points to trade at 155.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Experian PLC (LON:EXPN) added 4.49% or 80.50 points to end at 1873.50 and Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO) was up 4.23% or 53.00 points to 1307.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS), which fell 4.25% or 126.00 points to trade at 2836.50 at the close. BP PLC (LON:BP) declined 2.77% or 14.60 points to end at 513.50 and Babcock International Group PLC (LON:BAB) was down 2.69% or 16.60 points to 599.60.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1098 to 1012 and 271 ended unchanged.
Shares in British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS) fell to 5-year lows; losing 4.25% or 126.00 to 2836.50.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.15% or 1.80 to $1203.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 4.27% or 2.56 to hit $57.37 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 4.22% or 2.96 to trade at $67.16 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 1.45% to 1.3035, while EUR/GBP fell 0.82% to 0.8658.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.42% at 96.97.
