Meanwhile, London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSE) added 6.52% or 432.00 points to end at 7058.00 and Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK) was up 4.45% or 254.00 points to 5962.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI), which fell 5.35% or 96.50 points to trade at 1707.00 at the close. Royal Dutch Shell PLC B (LON:RDSb) declined 5.01% or 130.50 points to end at 2472.00 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (LON:RDSa) was down 4.93% or 128.00 points to 2466.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1079 to 1019 and 208 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.54% or 7.75 to $1430.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.52% or 2.06 to hit $56.52 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.86% or 1.86 to trade at $63.19 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.16% to 1.2137, while EUR/GBP rose 0.16% to 0.9121.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 98.297.
