Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Mobile Telecommunications, Food Producers and General Retailers sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which rose 3.75% or 14.40 points to trade at 398.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) added 2.18% or 44.00 points to end at 2059.00 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) was up 1.83% or 12.80 points to 712.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC), which fell 2.76% or 5.45 points to trade at 192.30 at the close. Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP) declined 2.39% or 4.70 points to end at 192.30 and Capita PLC (LON:CPI) was down 1.74% or 2.65 points to 149.65.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1009 to 978 and 329 ended unchanged.

Shares in International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.83% or 12.80 to 712.20.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.20% or 2.60 to $1302.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.33% or 0.22 to hit $66.58 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.63% or 0.48 to trade at $76.36 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.05% to 1.3379, while EUR/GBP rose 0.25% to 0.8806.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 93.60.
