Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Mobile Telecommunications, Industrial Metals & Mining and Tobacco sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which rose 7.52% or 10.50 points to trade at 150.05 at the close. Meanwhile, BP PLC (LON:BP) added 2.20% or 12.70 points to end at 589.60 and United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) was up 1.97% or 15.20 points to 786.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM), which fell 5.71% or 33.60 points to trade at 555.40 at the close. Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) declined 4.63% or 9.10 points to end at 187.52 and J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) was down 3.03% or 9.50 points to 303.60.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 998 to 992 and 316 ended unchanged.
Shares in Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) fell to 3-years lows; falling 4.63% or 9.10 to 187.52.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.01% or 0.10 to $1301.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.62% or 1.05 to hit $65.78 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.03% or 1.53 to trade at $76.89 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.12% to 1.3430, while EUR/GBP rose 0.20% to 0.8797.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 93.38.
