Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Electrical and Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 1.96% or 11.20 points to trade at 583.80 at the close. Meanwhile, 3I Group PLC (LON:III) added 1.40% or 51.00 points to end at 3,697.00 and Halma PLC (LON:HLMA) was up 1.39% or 38.00 points to 2,771.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Entain PLC (LON:ENT), which fell 6.28% or 51.20 points to trade at 763.80 at the close. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) declined 3.66% or 4.80 points to end at 126.35 and ConvaTec Group PLC (LON:CTEC) was down 3.07% or 7.20 points to 227.60.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1112 to 649 and 663 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.21% or 5.71 to $2,670.09 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.63% or 1.16 to hit $70.13 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.97% or 0.72 to trade at $73.77 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.58% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.46% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 106.54.
