Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Mining, Industrial Metals & Mining and Tobacco sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.68%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Old Mutual Ltd (LON:OMU), which rose 7.71% or 11.82 points to trade at 165.06 at the close. Meanwhile, Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) added 5.60% or 13.60 points to end at 256.30 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) was up 4.69% or 15.10 points to 336.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Smiths Group PLC (LON:SMIN), which fell 4.43% or 70.50 points to trade at 1520.50 at the close. Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) declined 2.95% or 17.00 points to end at 560.00 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) was down 2.79% or 68.00 points to 2366.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1226 to 849 and 320 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.78% or 9.40 to $1201.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.94% or 0.66 to hit $70.98 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.30% or 0.24 to trade at $78.94 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.44% to 1.3071, while EUR/GBP rose 1.22% to 0.8983.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.41% at 93.85.
