Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Oil & Gas Producers and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.37%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which rose 4.55% or 34.40 points to trade at 790.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) added 4.23% or 78.50 points to end at 1935.50 and Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) was up 4.00% or 14.50 points to 376.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which fell 3.04% or 26.40 points to trade at 841.20 at the close. Old Mutual Ltd (LON:OMU) declined 3.15% or 3.84 points to end at 117.94 and National Grid PLC (LON:NG) was down 1.99% or 16.90 points to 832.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1590 to 681 and 96 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.47% or 5.70 to $1216.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.23% or 0.15 to hit $66.33 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.41% or 0.31 to trade at $76.22 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.44% to 1.2762, while EUR/GBP fell 0.65% to 0.8870.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 96.84.
