Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Mobile Telecommunications and Oil & Gas Producers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.22%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD), which rose 6.25% or 9.70 points to trade at 164.82 at the close. Meanwhile, Old Mutual Ltd (LON:OMU) added 5.50% or 6.84 points to end at 131.08 and Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) was up 4.28% or 14.60 points to 355.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG), which fell 2.09% or 7.10 points to trade at 332.90 at the close. Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB) declined 2.09% or 150.00 points to end at 7040.00 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) was down 1.38% or 25.50 points to 1824.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1351 to 718 and 303 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.01% or 0.10 to $1229.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.54% or 1.28 to hit $51.70 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.76% or 1.63 to trade at $60.67 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.04% to 1.2818, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.8849.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 96.877.
