Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Industrial Metals & Mining and Oil & Gas Producers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN), which rose 3.84% or 54.50 points to trade at 1475.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 3.30% or 51.40 points to end at 1607.80 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) was up 2.83% or 7.68 points to 279.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF), which fell 4.60% or 108.00 points to trade at 2242.00 at the close. Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB) declined 1.75% or 115.00 points to end at 6455.00 and Informa Plc (LON:INF) was down 1.66% or 11.00 points to 651.80.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1284 to 781 and 313 ended unchanged.
Shares in Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN) rose to all time highs; up 3.84% or 54.50 to 1475.00. Shares in Informa Plc (LON:INF) fell to 52-week lows; down 1.66% or 11.00 to 651.80.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.51% or 6.40 to $1250.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 4.08% or 2.10 to hit $53.59 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 4.35% or 2.61 to trade at $62.67 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.44% to 1.2728, while EUR/GBP rose 0.49% to 0.8944.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 96.722.
