Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Oil & Gas Producers and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.05% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM), which rose 7.33% or 43.00 points to trade at 630.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Next PLC (LON:NXT) added 2.84% or 122.00 points to end at 4415.00 and Standard Life Aberdeen PLC (LON:SLA) was up 2.54% or 10.60 points to 428.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which fell 3.20% or 13.00 points to trade at 392.90 at the close. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) declined 2.40% or 27.00 points to end at 1098.00 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) was down 1.73% or 86.00 points to 4878.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1291 to 845 and 151 ended unchanged.
Shares in Capita PLC (LON:CPI) fell to 5-year lows; down 3.20% or 13.00 to 392.90.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.07% or 0.90 to $1270.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.43% or 0.25 to hit $58.34 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.34% or 0.22 to trade at $64.78 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.04% to 1.3370, while EUR/GBP rose 0.02% to 0.8878.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 92.88.
