Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Forestry & Paper, Oil & Gas Producers and Food & Drug Retailers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.03%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (LON:RDSa), which rose 4.00% or 92.50 points to trade at 2408.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Worldpay Group PLC (LON:WPG) added 3.94% or 16.40 points to end at 432.60 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC B (LON:RDSb) was up 3.71% or 87.50 points to 2448.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC), which fell 2.10% or 3.30 points to trade at 154.00 at the close. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) declined 1.89% or 49.00 points to end at 2540.00 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was down 1.75% or 25.00 points to 1405.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1165 to 831 and 147 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.08% or 1.00 to $1295.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.57% or 0.33 to hit $57.78 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.62% or 0.39 to trade at $62.99 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.62% to 1.3234, while EUR/GBP rose 0.47% to 0.8974.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 93.08.
