Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Tobacco and Food & Drug Retailers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 1.02% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which rose 4.79% or 115.00 points to trade at 2518.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) added 4.12% or 244.00 points to end at 6172.00 and British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS) was up 4.09% or 112.50 points to 2861.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which fell 2.00% or 17.40 points to trade at 852.80 at the close. Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) declined 1.54% or 38.00 points to end at 2425.00 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) was down 1.07% or 1.38 points to 127.94.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1458 to 746 and 198 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.71% or 24.15 to $1389.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.05% or 0.03 to hit $58.44 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.31% or 0.20 to trade at $64.54 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.44% to 1.2637, while EUR/GBP fell 0.25% to 0.8934.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.72% at 96.357.
