Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Household Goods & Home Construction and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 1.01%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which rose 7.09% or 67.50 points to trade at 1020.00 at the close. Meanwhile, The Berkeley Group Holdings plc (LON:BKGH) added 6.94% or 267.00 points to end at 4113.00 and Hammerson PLC (LON:HMSO) was up 3.64% or 18.50 points to 526.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK), which fell 1.75% or 90.00 points to trade at 5050.00 at the close. Provident Financial (LON:PFG) declined 1.05% or 8.50 points to end at 798.00 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) was down 0.59% or 5.00 points to 838.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1272 to 787 and 170 ended unchanged.
Shares in The Berkeley Group Holdings plc (LON:BKGH) rose to all time highs; gaining 6.94% or 267.00 to 4113.00.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.30% or 3.70 to $1249.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.34% or 0.76 to hit $57.45 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.75% or 1.09 to trade at $63.29 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.71% to 1.3378, while EUR/GBP rose 0.65% to 0.8794.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 93.91.
