Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Industrial Metals & Mining and Forestry & Paper sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.95%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which rose 4.41% or 6.85 points to trade at 162.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 3.39% or 32.00 points to end at 976.00 and Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) was up 2.83% or 5.20 points to 189.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT), which fell 3.14% or 65.00 points to trade at 2003.00 at the close. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) declined 2.25% or 33.00 points to end at 1436.00 and United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) was down 2.17% or 17.00 points to 766.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1297 to 671 and 335 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.45% or 5.60 to $1261.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.43% or 0.32 to hit $73.48 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.01% or 0.78 to trade at $77.89 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.44% to 1.3228, while EUR/GBP rose 0.49% to 0.8882.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 93.82.
