Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Pharmaceuticals & Biotech and Travel & Leisure sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.88%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM), which rose 2.89% or 21.50 points to trade at 764.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 2.82% or 38.50 points to end at 1402.50 and Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) was up 2.71% or 37.00 points to 1400.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were St. James’s Place PLC (LON:SJP), which fell 1.45% or 17.00 points to trade at 1153.00 at the close. Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) declined 1.31% or 2.30 points to end at 173.40 and Provident Financial (LON:PFG) was down 1.01% or 9.00 points to 883.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1395 to 555 and 442 ended unchanged.
Shares in Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) fell to 3-years lows; falling 1.31% or 2.30 to 173.40.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.73% or 9.64 to $1323.74 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.50% or 1.15 to hit $47.11 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 3.47% or 1.76 to trade at $52.49 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.26% to 1.2891, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.9220.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 92.79.
