Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the General Retailers, Tobacco and Forestry & Paper sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.82%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 4.91% or 44.80 points to trade at 958.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK) added 3.99% or 48.50 points to end at 1265.00 and Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) was up 2.91% or 47.50 points to 1681.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which fell 3.56% or 31.00 points to trade at 840.40 at the close. Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN) declined 3.00% or 45.50 points to end at 1469.50 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was down 1.15% or 22.20 points to 1912.60.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1329 to 743 and 297 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.44% or 5.85 to $1312.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.61% or 0.85 to hit $51.87 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.95% or 0.59 to trade at $61.51 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.68% to 1.2858, while EUR/GBP rose 0.30% to 0.8771.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.44% at 96.843.
