Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Gas, Water & Multiutilities, Household Goods & Home Construction and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.80% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG), which rose 3.39% or 192.00 points to trade at 5854.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RB) added 3.29% or 203.00 points to end at 6365.00 and National Grid PLC (LON:NG) was up 2.81% or 23.60 points to 862.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA), which fell 3.97% or 202.00 points to trade at 4888.00 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 2.78% or 26.40 points to end at 922.80 and Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA) was down 2.46% or 13.60 points to 539.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1132 to 1072 and 197 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.29% or 17.95 to $1407.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 3.33% or 1.97 to hit $57.12 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 2.83% or 1.84 to trade at $63.22 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.24% to 1.2608, while EUR/GBP rose 0.36% to 0.8959.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 96.268.
