Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mobile Telecommunications and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.79%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which rose 5.25% or 9.50 points to trade at 190.50 at the close. Meanwhile, WPP PLC (LON:WPP) added 4.18% or 59.00 points to end at 1471.00 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) was up 3.75% or 33.80 points to 934.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS), which fell 2.14% or 138.00 points to trade at 6306.00 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 1.89% or 17.60 points to end at 914.60 and BHP Billiton PLC (LON:BLT) was down 1.29% or 20.60 points to 1577.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1350 to 568 and 158 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.07% or 1.00 to $1354.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.62% or 0.38 to hit $61.72 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.99% or 0.64 to trade at $64.97 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.38% to 1.4043, while EUR/GBP fell 0.20% to 0.8852.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.49% at 88.90.
