Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Construction & Materials, Industrial Metals & Mining and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.70% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH), which rose 3.91% or 99.0 points to trade at 2630.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG) added 3.25% or 8.70 points to end at 276.80 and CRH PLC (LON:CRH) was up 2.74% or 60.00 points to 2250.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which fell 3.44% or 34.60 points to trade at 970.40 at the close. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) declined 1.05% or 3.25 points to end at 306.20 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) was down 1.03% or 2.40 points to 230.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1220 to 820 and 331 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.31% or 4.05 to $1321.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.75% or 0.94 to hit $54.73 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 2.10% or 1.28 to trade at $62.12 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.07% to 1.3091, while EUR/GBP rose 0.40% to 0.8764.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 95.235.
