Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Software & Computer Services and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.63%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which rose 4.38% or 45.00 points to trade at 1073.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Experian PLC (LON:EXPN) added 2.49% or 39.00 points to end at 1604.00 and BP PLC (LON:BP) was up 2.47% or 12.30 points to 511.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were WM Morrison Supermarkets PLC (LON:MRW), which fell 4.47% or 9.90 points to trade at 211.50 at the close. J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) declined 4.13% or 10.10 points to end at 234.60 and CRH PLC (LON:CRH) was down 1.70% or 45.00 points to 2596.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1145 to 968 and 132 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.59% or 7.40 to $1239.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.52% or 0.88 to hit $57.11 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.95% or 1.26 to trade at $63.43 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.13% to 1.3322, while EUR/GBP fell 0.26% to 0.8798.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 94.19.
