Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Life Insurance/Assurance, Chemicals and Tobacco sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.62%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Prudential PLC (LON:PRU), which rose 7.33% or 51.80 points to trade at 759.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Frasers Group PLC (LON:FRAS) added 3.85% or 33.50 points to end at 903.50 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) was up 3.35% or 33.00 points to 1,018.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which fell 3.09% or 465.00 points to trade at 14,600.00 at the close. Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:BKGH) declined 2.07% or 98.00 points to end at 4,632.00 and Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE) was down 1.34% or 14.50 points to 1,066.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1089 to 742 and 681 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.45% or 10.50 to $2,341.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.02% or 0.82 to hit $81.55 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.89% or 0.75 to trade at $85.08 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.30% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 105.18.
