Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Construction & Materials and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.60%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY), which rose 14.39% or 286.50 points to trade at 2277.00 at the close. Meanwhile, EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 5.39% or 53.70 points to end at 1049.50 and Pearson PLC (LON:PSON) was up 3.40% or 29.40 points to 893.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV), which fell 2.58% or 13.70 points to trade at 518.30 at the close. Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA) declined 1.82% or 10.20 points to end at 550.00 and Smurfit Kappa Group PLC (LON:SKG) was down 1.73% or 46.00 points to 2610.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1162 to 979 and 211 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.00% or 0.05 to $1413.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.08% or 1.24 to hit $58.34 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.73% or 1.15 to trade at $65.33 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.78% to 1.2416, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.9030.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.44% at 96.968.
