Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Transportation, Tobacco and Mobile Telecommunications sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.59%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC), which rose 6.78% or 9.35 points to trade at 147.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB) added 4.84% or 236.00 points to end at 5114.00 and Capita PLC (LON:CPI) was up 4.33% or 5.15 points to 124.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were WM Morrison Supermarkets PLC (LON:MRW), which fell 1.71% or 3.85 points to trade at 221.15 at the close. J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) declined 1.45% or 3.30 points to end at 223.80 and 3I Group PLC (LON:III) was down 1.12% or 10.80 points to 949.20.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1280 to 807 and 329 ended unchanged.
Shares in Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB) rose to 3-years highs; rising 4.84% or 236.00 to 5114.00.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.58% or 7.45 to $1302.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.20% or 0.12 to hit $58.49 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.30% or 0.20 to trade at $67.03 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.42% to 1.3295, while EUR/GBP fell 0.25% to 0.8513.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 96.585.
